In spite of rapid growth of the secondary and tertiary sectors of the Indian economy, agriculture is still the main stay of our economy owing to its tremendous potential to grow. Moreover, increased global competitiveness and post WTO situations have opened up enormous sopportunities in agriculture, food processing, and agribusiness, rural and allied sectors. In order to remain vibrant in the post - liberalization global market driven economy, there is an urgent need to give a facelift to our agriculture sector from a tradition bound subsistence oriented system to a commercial market driven techno savvy production with a stress on the value addition, quality, and efficiency in Agriculture.

Hence, during the XI plan period, the Government of India has accorded priority on growth of agriculture and agro-based industries. This makes
Agribusiness as one of the most challenging and exciting sectors to be in, either as a professional or as an entrepreneur.

The M.B.A. (Agribusiness) is an innovative programme of the Centre for Agri-management (CAM) of Utkal University on a partnership mode to cater to the growing demand for professionals who can contribute to the agribusiness revolution. Utkal University with its vast infrastructure facilities is unique in offering this programme for the first time in the eastern India.

The Centre for Agri-management is striving hard for managerial excellence in agriculture and agribusiness by bringing out professional techno-managers equipped with modern management skills, values, aptitudes and sensitivity for agricultural and rural development.
